Vegan Indian food in Waltham
Plenty of South Indian cooking is dairy-free by nature: rice, lentils, coconut and vegetables. Here is where to start.

Eating vegan at Rassa
These vegetarian dishes have no dairy listed on our menu. Recipes can change and some dishes are finished with ghee or butter, so always tell your server you are vegan. They will check each dish with the kitchen and we will leave out the ghee where we can.
Dosas are a good place to start: plain, masala, Mysore, onion, podi (made with oil) and uttapam have no dairy in the batter. For bread, skip the naan, which usually has dairy, and ask about roti, or have basmati rice.
Good to know
Questions guests ask
Is your dosa vegan?
Plain, masala, Mysore, onion, podi (with oil) and uttapam contain no dairy in the batter. Ghee dosa does. Ask your server and we will make it without ghee.
Can you make other dishes vegan?
Ask your server. Some dishes can be made without ghee, butter or cream, and some cannot.
Is the kitchen dairy-free?
No. Our kitchen uses the same equipment for dairy, so we cannot guarantee a dish is completely free of it.
